You want to improve your PC gaming performance, you tweak the system, download some “Gaming Booster software,” but unfortunately you see no luck to make it better, even worst, it slower than before.
Then it might be some very fundamental steps you haven’t try or optimize.
So here are the few methods you can try, some problems can be easy to fix, some are a little bit tricky to achieve.
What you will learn:
– How to make your PC load faster and smooth overall (not only in gaming).
– Less loading time while gaming.
– Maximize your PC/laptop performer potential.
Uninstall old programs
Before doing anything, you need to clear out those old programs you no longer use; it can be wasting your computer storage space and affect your computer performance.
Cleaning unuse file or software can leave a lot of space so that you can also install more games in it.
First, you can go to “My computer/This PC” > “Uninstall or change a program” to remove the programs you do not want.
Methods above is for Windows 8, but other versions are almost the same.
Some of the apps cannot be found in the in the “Uninstall or change a program” place; then you need to check it out manually, it could be in your download folder, document folder program file or other areas.
Don’t forget to clean your Recycle bin after deleting those files manually.
Close background apps
Some programs are running in your PC background without your notice, and they even start running the moment you turn on your computer.
Turn off that software in the background that you no longer need, and let all your system resources focus on your gaming.
You can download CCleaner to control what program you want to stop.
CCleaner is a software to help you clean potentially unwanted files in your computer.
It also has other function like controlling your startup programs, optimize the system.
CCleaner has 3 different pricing plan, FREE, PROFESSIONAL($19.95), and PROFESSIONAL BUNDLE($39.95), but the free version is more than enough for you.
Upgrade your graphics drivers
Like the computer operating system, if your computer has a graphics card, then it also needs updates its drivers by time to time.
You can go to Nvidia or ATI (depends on what graphics card you bought) official website to find your card model driver and download it.
Adjust Nvidia control panel
Sometimes the graphics card panel didn’t automatically optimize the game you currently playing, so you need to go to their control panel to turn on the setting.
Install the latest DirectX
Most modern games required the DirectX software, so you need to make sure you update it to the latest version.
Direct X is a collection of application programming interfaces(APIs) for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming.
Sometimes when you install a game for your PC, It also required you to install DirectX to play the game you just introduced.
But In some cases, your Direct X version in your computer might not be the newest, so you need to make sure you have the latest version.
Don forget to clean the dust inside your computer or laptop.
If the system cover by a lot of dirt it can be slowing down your PC performance.
Make sure you turn off the PC power supply before clear your computer.
Overclocking the GPU
Overclocking is a technic of increasing the component’s clock rate, meaning it maximize its running speed and power.
But It can be dangerous to process, if you do something wrong, the whole GPU or motherboard will be broke.
This technic a little bit advanced, you need to have a certain level of computer knowledge to handle.
I am not going to teach the detail here, so if you are interested, you can see this guide.
Upgrade your Hardware
It could be a very costly method to improve the gaming performance, but sometimes it is necessary.
To be honest, you cannot play Witcher 3 with your 10 years old potato computer with an outdated graphics card.
If you have a budget, you can invest it in more decent hardware like a graphics card, RAM, hard disk, CPU and cooling system.
Upgrade Graphic Card
Graphics card is hardware which is responsible for rendering an image to your monitor.
High-end graphics video game required a decent graphics card, if your computer’s graphics card didn’t fit the game’s requirement, then you will experience lagging or jittering during the gameplay, or even cannot run the game at all.
Updated to SSD
SSD stands for solid-state-drive we using it for storing thing on our computer.
Compare to HDD(Hard Disk Drive), SSD process faster, it reduces loading time while in gaming.
I cover a topic about the SSD for gaming, you can read the detail here.
Upgrade RAM
RAM(Random access memory), is the type of computer memory which temporarily stores the information your PC needs at the moment(right now).
It differs from the SSD or HHD, they are the long-term memory, and RAM handles the short-term memory.
It also can reduce the gameplay loading time and run the game a little bit smoother.
Upgrade CPU
CPU stands for Central Processing Unit; it handles the instructions it receives from software and hardware running on the computer.
The major companies produce consumer CPU are Intel and AMD.
It likes the brain of the entire computer, so if you have a very high-end graphics card but your CPU outdated, then you might not get it full potential power while playing a video game.
Check the game system requirements.
Even though you do all the things that I mentioned above, but if your hardware didn’t match the requirement of the video game you want to play, then it will not much help for the gaming performance.
So before you buy the games, make sure you check their system requirements carefully,
lower your graphics setting in the game
If your computer is an ancient and you already try your best to optimize it, but nothing work, and you don’t have the money to upgrade your hardware, then you might be considered lower the graphics setting in your game.
If you follow all the method above, at least one or two ways, then your PC gaming performance will be improved.
The biggest selling point is the much faster access times and the higher data rates.
Windows boots faster and programs open up more quickly, which is why SSDs have long been established as a system disk.
Apart from the advantages of gaming, an SSD brings a significant performance boost if you use it as a system disk and installed often needed programs on the solid state drive.
Many small delays are almost completely eliminated and the SSD gives you a much smoother feel when using your PC.
If you plan to use an SSD as a pure gaming hard drive, you should consider carefully: If you already have a current CPU and a fast graphics card, an SSD is a useful upgrade option to give the computer a bit more speed and reduce load times while playing.
Why an SSD brings so much to the performance
In a computer system, there are different components with different performance.
The overall performance is often slowed down by the weakest link in the chain.
With an SSD, this imbalance can be compensated and thus significantly improve the performance.
When it comes to upgrading a PC or notebook to be more productive, many users are thinking of upgrading the processor and memory.
But that does not bring in many cases the desired effect.
If you take a look at the components in a computer system, it quickly becomes clear why this is so.
Modern processors and main memory now achieve a data transfer rate of more than 30 GB per second.
But the data must be available to these components to achieve such transfer rates.
And that’s where the disk comes into play – as a brake pad. Modern magnetic hard drives offer at best a transfer rate of just 200 MB / s or, to be able to compare it a little better, 0.2 GB / s. CPU and RAM are faster by a factor of 150.
It is clear that a magnetic hard disk slows down CPU and RAM significantly, which negatively impacts productivity.
And even if you look back a couple of years and look at the throughput rates of an Athlon 64 X2 and Pentium 4 Extreme Editon , you will find that at around 5 GB / s, they exceed the performance of a modern magnetic hard disk by a factor of 25.
If one considers that older systems also used older systems which at that time offered an approximate transfer rate of 80 MB / s, the difference between hard disk performance and CPU / main memory increases to a factor of 62.5.
Any action that minimizes these performance differences means that CPU and RAM will have less to wait for data to meet more quickly.
For the user, the waiting times are shortened and productivity increases.
SSD minimizes performance imbalance
As a proven means to minimize the power imbalance, therefore, many users use an SSD.
First of all, in terms of performance compared to a magnetic hard disk, far superior flash memory was only a SATA interface based on the AHCI protocol available.
This offers a maximum transfer rate of 600 MB / s.
In practice, the overhead of the protocol costs some power.
But with a net transfer rate of about 550 MB / s, SSDs are more than twice as fast as modern magnetic hard drives.
Hard drives: HDD and SSD – what’s the difference?
Small, fast, expensive: The alternative to the classic HDD is the SSD. Although both types look similar, they are different.
Which of these are and whether you would prefer to use a Solid State Disc (SSD) or a Hard Drive Disc (HDD), see this guide.
HDD or SSD: differences in operation
The two hard disk types HDD and SSD have a completely different functionality:
•The classic HDD consists of one or more magnetic disks and one read head each.
The magnetic disks rotate during operation.
The read head (attached to a flywheel) travels over the discs and reads out the stored data.
•An SSD, however, consists of many flash memories, as they are also installed in USB sticks.
That means: In an SSD no mechanical parts are installed.
•For particularly interested: In separate articles, we explain the operation of the SSD and HDDin detail.
HDD vs. SSD: Advantages of the SSD
For some years, the SSD seems slowly but surely to run out of class HDD rank.
This is mainly due to the many advantages:
•The SSD has no mechanical parts, which makes it much more robust than the HDD.
It also cope with crashes without any problems, whereas HDDs can expect defects and data loss.
•Due to the lack of mechanical parts SSDs are also almost noiseless.
An HDD buzzes while in operation. This is particularly noticeable in notebooks and PCs with a thin housing.
•The main advantage of the SSD: It works much faster than the classic hard drive.
As a result, PCs and notebooks with an SSD start noticeably faster and up to twice faster than with classic hard disks.
Files and programs are even opened up to four times faster.
•The SSD is last easier than the HDD.
This makes it especially suitable for mobile devices. In addition, it is usually more efficient, so consumes significantly less power.
This also makes them interesting for mobile devices, as the battery life is extended.
HDD vs. SSD: Advantages of the HDD
In addition to the many advantages lurk in SSDs but also some dangers.
Which are the and where the HDD still has the nose, we have summarized here for you:
•An HDD is currently (still) a lot cheaper than the SSD.
Nevertheless, you can also save a lot on the new hard drive type, as our price-performance ranking shows.
•Furthermore, HDDs offer significantly more storage space.
Up to 8 TB are possible here, while current SSDs are over after 2 TB at the latest.
•In case of data loss, HDDs usually have more hope: the data can often be read out with special tools .
This is rarely possible with an SSD.
•Therefore our recommendation: The SSHD combines the advantages of a HDD with those of the fast SSD.
What do I have to consider when using SSD?
– Computer: The SSD effect is clearly noticeable only in PCs and notebooks with dual-core processor (from Core i3) and at least 4 gigabytes of RAM.
To take full advantage of the current SSDs, the computer also needs SATA 3.0 ports.
– Operating System : Optimal SSD works only with Windows 7 , older Windows versions are not recommended.
For example, Windows 7 automatically turns off the defragmentation that is harmful to SSDs.
In addition, Windows 7 offers the very important with SSDs Trim function.
This tells the operating system of the SSD which data blocks are deleted and can be reused.
– Memory Usage: When an SSD is almost full, its tempo drops significantly.
Lifetime also suffers because the few free areas are often described. Therefore, SSDs should be at most about 85 percent occupied.
Best budget SSD for gaming
If you want to buy an SSD hard disk for a laptop, notebook or desktop PC, for example, to boot the operating system faster, you will find a very large and extensive range of different disks, manufacturers and capacities.
In the test, we took a close look at the most popular models and summarized the test winners in our Top 5 list of the best SSD hard drives of 2018. In order to be able to compare the prices better, we chose for the respective SSD hard drive 256GB as memory variant.
In addition, each internal SSD hard drive is 2.5 inches in size, as it can be used for both desktop PCs and laptop SSDs.
1. Samsung MZ-75E250B / EU 850 EVO
The best SSD hard drive was the Samsung model.
The plate convinced in the test not only by a very good reading and writing speed of 540 or 520 MB / second, but also by the chic design and the different variants.
So you can buy the model both as a standard and starter kit variant, which already contains a SATA to USB 3.0 cable.
Both variants include the management software Magician.
Even if you need a bit more space and prefer the SSD hard drive 1TB space, you will find Samsung, because in addition to the tested version with 256GB, it is synonymous with 120GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and even 4TB what Otherwise there is no manufacturer.
However, one has to say fair that the two and four Terrabyte variants are uninteresting because of the enormously high price for the private sector.
The board has a SATA 6Gb / s interface down to 1.5Gb / s and 3GB / s, and thanks to 512MB of low power DDR3 SDRAM, which serves as a cache, the record is superbly equipped for all areas well suited.
Compared to the PRO series from Samsung, TLC modules are used instead of MLC modules, which store three instead of just two bits per cell, but for the private sector this is usually sufficient, although this somewhat reduces the durability and speed , However, the strong values of up to 88,000 IOPS random write performance and 100,000 IOPS random read performance on the 256GB model speak for themselves.
2. Intenso 3812430
The Intenso model is a very solid SSD hard drive that operates at a speed of 520 MB / s (read) or 490 MB / s (write).
This puts her in the midfield but convinces with solid workmanship and good shock and vibration resistance. In the 256 GB variant with 512 MB cache, the disk operates with a 4KB random read performance of 38,000 IOPS and a random write rate of 52,000 IOPS.
Although this is only mediocre, but is usually enough for everyday life, because thanks to the SATA III interface with 6Gbps, the model still works fast and reliable.
Negative was in the test on the fact that the plate makes in contrast to the manufacturer’s information but quite good audible noise.
This is particularly uncomfortable if you want to use it as an SSD hard drive for your notebook or laptops.
Priced in particular, the 128 GB version but in a very good range and the 256 GB disk offers a good price-performance ratio.
As a 1TB hard drive, there is not the model of Intenso, because you only have the choice between 128, 256 and 512 GB.
3. SanDisk PLUS SDSSDA-240G-G26
With its SSD PLUS, SanDisk offers a good hard drive with a write speed of up to 445 MB / s or a read speed of up to 535 MB / s. In the Random Read / Write Test she reached a maximum of 36,000 or 66,000 IOPS, which is in solid midfield.
Unfortunately, it is not to be seen when buying, whether it is a model with MLC or TLC Flash and the performance has never been consistent, but fluctuated quite strong.
The package includes the SanDisk SSD Dashboard monitoring software, which allows you to check drive status in real time.
Also, the hard drive could convince in the test, because it is very impact and vibration and temperature resistant, so your data is always safe. In addition to the standard version, SanDisk offers the SSD hard drive with 500GB (or 480) and 120 GB. In terms of price, the model is also convincing, even though the prices for the 250 GB variants have come closer and closer in recent times.
But if you are looking for a smaller version, here comes his money, because the 120 GB model is very cheap to have at SanDisk.
However, if you really want to use a lot of hard disk, you should stay away from it, because especially with permanently high cache load, the disk tends to give up the ghost faster than other models.
4. Samsung MU-PA250B / EU T5
The best external SSD hard drive comes from Samsung.
The model with USB 3.1 interface achieves a sequential data transfer rate of up to 540 MB / s and is very compact with 7.4 x 5.7 x 1 cm.
Thanks to optional AES 256-bit encryption, you can protect your data very well against unauthorized access and the capacity selection at Samsung speaks for itself anyway.
So you can buy the hard drive as 250GB, 500GB and even as 1TB and 2TB variant.
The latter, however, is so expensive that it will be hard to come by for private use.
The plate weighs only 51 grams in total, but is still very solid and well designed.
The delivery includes a suitable USB Type C and a USB Type C to A already included.
Compared to internal SSDs, the model is much more expensive, but the price-performance ratio is nevertheless good due to its uniform and good performance in combination with the very compact design.
5. Kingston SSDNowV300
This is an SSD that has a storage capacity of 240 GB and has a SATA Rev 3.0 interface and is backward compatible with the SATA Rev 2.0 interface.
In addition, this SSD offers a read speed of 191 MB / s and a write speed of 142 MB / s and could even up to 85 000 IOPS.
Also note that this hard drive is reliable and therefore, you can count on it to make your computer fast.
As for its power consumption, it is relatively low and the good news is that this SSD is compatible with all operating systems and all computers as long as they are equipped with SSD connectors.
The Kingston SSDNowV300 solid state hard drive would be perfect for people looking to save money and want to change their relationship with their computer forever.
In addition, this computer device has a 3-year warranty, which proves among other things, the reliability of the brand!
Kingston is for many customers a better SSD brand currently on the market.
In particular, they enjoyed the Kingston SSDNowV300, a model equipped with an optimized LSI SandForce controller for the brand.
Conclusion
If a PC or notebook is equipped with a reasonably decent processor and has at least 4 GB of RAM, you should consider equipping it with an SSD and bringing it back to life.
This is worthwhile even for systems that have already gotten a bit old.
Even a 2007 iMac with a Core 2 Duo processor and four gigabytes of memory has benefited from an SSD upgrade in the test.
While starting with the built-in magnetic hard disk takes over a minute, macOS was ready after the installation of an SSD already after 30 seconds.
And also the use of Photoshop has made fun again with the SSD-tuned iMac.
And for a high-performance system, you should use the currently fastest NVMe SSD.

Let’s be honest, we all love a new pair of headsets.
Getting a new pair of headsets is like putting new, perfect strength prescription glasses on your ears.
You just notice soundscapes that evaded you before, whether it’s bass or treble.
However, few people other than audiophiles and music producers enjoy high quality headsets as much as pro gamers.
Most people aren’t aware of the huge effect that high-quality sound can have on a gaming experience.
And in the case of professional gamers, the sound quality of their professional gaming headset can even affect their job performance.
Let’s look at an example.
In CS:GO, pro gamers will splurge hundreds of dollars on professional, production worthy headsets.
Why?
Because it gives them an advantage.
In games such as CS:GO, if you have high quality headsets, you can more clearly hear where your enemies are coming from.
This means that you can set up ambushes more easily than an opponent with lower quality headphones can.
That’s right, in many types of competitive games, the quality of your esports gaming equipment actually makes a concrete difference in how well a pro gamer can play the game.
So needless to say, a good gamer headset is pretty important to pro gamers.
But which headsets give you the best bass for your buck?
Read on to find out what the best gaming headset for you is.
*A pair of the good headset may not enough, if you playing PlayStation 4, choose a better controllercan light up your gaming experience.
1. SteelSeries Arctis Pro
It’s not every day that a gaming headset pops up with an audio profile that could be used in music production, but the SteelSeries Arctis Pro provides just that level of quality.
In addition, this steelseries headset can be used for musical enjoyment as well, thanks to how they include a DAC (digital to audio converter) in their build.
They’re a bit pricey, but steelseries headsets overall just a phenomenal headset. You can find them here.
Considering I’ve gotten my gaming rig built here on this channel I also have that 4k TV in the back for my consoles the last missing piece is it gave me headset to bridge the gap.
I’m huge at audio as you guys can tell him to channel here and some of my headsets in the past.
We’re great on PC but they all converted to a 35-millimeter plug
that connected into my controller with my PlayStation 4
The best audio output now a SteelSeries released their newest artist Pro line.
Their best of the best headsets available at the time of this video and it comes with a digital to analog converter.
As always being transparent with you guys they did sponsor this video but I’m going to go through both pros and cons.
I’ll leave links down in that video description below the link will take you to
SteelSeries comm for more information.
I’m Jimmy with Jim’s review room and I’m here to help you make that purchase decision welcome everyone to another review
[Music]
Now I have both the artist Pro Plus game deck and the artist Pro Wireless.
Both of these were for PC and PlayStation 4 now both these headsets look nearly identical, same metal band up top here wrapped in a soft and stretching ski goggles.
In here matte black finish all the way around same plastic yet durable
arms extending to the ear cups.
Now doing my vent test which I’m aware is overkill but not trying to break these I’m trying to see if there’s any kind of chatter creaking rattling that would show any kind of weak spots or cheap build quality.
I don’t see any or hear any issues whatsoever but ear cups are closed back with back plates which are easily removable.
The Pro Plus model that I have run mine neck here it does have RGB lighting partially controllable within the deck fully customizable though with any SteelSeries engine software which unfortunately was not available during the time of me testing.
The wireless model does not have our jeebies.
Now both headsets features nearly identical buttons the craftsmanship and detail are one of the best for sure
Here for my assessment all are very premium feeling super grippy with no issues whatsoever in determining where you are trying to button locate during gameplay.
Now on screen are basically what all the features are offered but the wireless model having an additional micro USB port for charging the headsets
And then on their right ear cup and you have power and bluetooth pairing
Now with the pro wireless model I did confirm you are able to use the headset with the wireless transmitter for in-game audio.
Of course and you’re able to activate bluetooth at the same time to let’s say
listen to music in the background or for those who use discord you can use the chat feature on discord.
While playing PlayStation 4 for those who might intend on using these for or as regular headphones.
Basically for music listening away from home and transit with your smartphone.
I was able to verify Bluetooth signal 64 linear feet was how far I could get before the signal started to crackle.
And for gaming for the wireless transmitter on the wireless
model it does use 2.4 gigahertz frequency with low latency.
I was able to confirm 48 linear feet before the audio started to crackle so right before I started talking about comfort I absolutely love this feature.
Here you can share your audio from one of these headsets to any other pair of headphones.
For this is a first time for me but could acting at 3 1/2 millimeter chord from
one headset to another brand.
It doesn’t have to be SteelSeries you’re able to split the audio connection.
Your friend just won’t have these same surround sound performance but at least both you guys can sit there and hear what’s going on the screen.
Now getting back to that physical features let’s talk about comfort and both headsets are average in weight with other premiums.
Here at headsets the wired version comes in at 350 gram the wireless version comes in at 375 grams not making these any lighter or heavier than most of the other headsets on the market.
Now a slight partner for me here I was hoping there’d be lighter now while wearing these for several hours straight it took some time to get used to at first.
I did feel a slight pinch at the crown of my head here but after extending the band and finding that sweet spot these performed on par with the competitors comfortable enough but I was again hoping for hence if these days to feel even lighter.
Now although the wireless model was heavier though than these are wired ones there wasn’t much of a difference in experience.
The ear pads are comfortable for me and work in a 72 degree room office
Basically for a little over 2 hours straight gaming I’ve never had any kind of ear sweats or weird fatigue around the ears.
Now last up on the probe wireless model thankfully behind this backplate here there is a replaceable battery.
The retail package does offer two batteries and each one of these lasts up to 10 hours which is great a huge benefit when one battery dies there’s already another one that’s pushed in or inside the gaming wireless transmitter itself.
So that way you’ll never have to recharge your batteries.
Essentially you might never have to be encountered or
encounter a dead battery situation.
Now these headsets included a retractable mic highly positionable.
Both headsets features RGB lighting at the end here for you to customize.
Here’s a quick audio sample.
Alright folks here is the microphone test is completely unedited
completely natural here.
Now we’ve tested some pretty darn good headsets with some
very good mics.
In the past I’ve noticed even the good ones these sound nasally.
They make me sound a little bit congested.
You guys hearing a 100% natural here.
This is probably the least congested that I’ve sounded so far.
This one the best microphones for gaming that I have used.
Now it’s a test out background noise.
Just case you have
like your I don’t know your mom yelling you in the background.
Your brother’s playing around you being quiet while you’re playing.
Let’s test out some background noise.
Have you guys heard that but we’ll find out in post-production
but he had.
This is the most natural test here completely unedited.
Back to the review.
Alright folks getting into the digital to analog converter on the Pro Plus model.
Now SteelSeries offers their own DAC but this is gaming first certified high res audio system.
SteelSeries is claiming up to 40,000 Hertz are reproduced while standard headsets produced 20 mm.
They also claimed their ESS saber chip gives off high fidelity full resolution audio Plus this is the first ever headset to offer DTS X version 2.
Sounds amazing and sounds promising but let’s see what the deck offers first and then I’ll give you my audio test right afterwards.
Now the Pro Plus game deck model is a small module that’s connected via USB.
No need to connect the supplied optical cable if you’re using this.
On PlayStation 4 you need to then connect both connections.
Now everything feels high-quality and responsive just like
the headset themselves but the plastic screen covering the OLED display it’s unfortunately very easily scratch Apple.
The informational screen is very much viewable in even bright rooms situations, bright light situation and it’s very straightforward and easy to use.
Both headsets do offer a built-in equalizer and these headsets tune very well.
Here making subtle adjustments does reflect in the audio experience and thankfully it doesn’t distort.
The audio mixer makes for fine tuning the in-game chat and your gaming audio very easy as well.
I’ll take a closer look at the Pro Bowlers model it is slightly different.
It’s a slightly different interface that utilize is still present and like on
both headsets you can control own allowing you to control how much you can hear your own voice in game.
So alright folks please put on your headphones and earphones for the audio test.
I’ll be using binaural microphones to give you the best the 3d audio experience as a heads up and then use their built-in equalizer to give the best audio experience that I could.
Here it goes
[Music]
And there you have it folks.
First up both headsets perform very similar to each other despite one being
on a dedicated deck while the other one is on a wireless transmitter.
Now both were able to get loud enough for comfortable and just enough for
competitive gaming that if they were not loud enough for you be sure to adjust the vibe limiter on the deck or wireless transmitter.
Now seconds when you’re putting these on for the first time they’re going to sound extremely well balanced but also very flats gonna be flat across the board and I would highly recommend to customize the equalizer to
the way that you want it to.
Here’s a quick demo.
Now once I tuned it the base was much deeper for explosions footsteps and objects dropping in-game.
The mid-range and high notes were pushed a bit more forward making me more my new details much more appearance.
Not to mention my spacial awareness was increased quite a bit.
The audio from footsteps to directions of gunshots were improved and maybe immersion that much more enjoyable and it does give you a much more competitive edge.
Fortnite worked well with hearing gunshots off in a distance and hearing where it was coming from identifying where the competition might be perched up and sniping from.
During my time testing it’s no question highly detailed from my experience with no listening fatigue no screeching pierces from bullets.
Here overall a very balanced headset one flat but also highly tuneable when you use the EQ.
Now overall the biggest highlight from the artists Pro line is how clean the audio is and how accurate it can be.
Now the only critique is wishing there was more
of an open soundstage.
In general I wanted just a little bit more audio separation and just a airiness that you get some from games at times.
Now the last benefit these headsets also work on the PlayStation 4 and it makes a world of difference.
I had the same performance on my PlayStation 4 as I did on my PC but I’ve been using a typical 3.5 millimeter pair of headphones or earphones and when playing over the years.
Making that transition over to the DAC for the first time tremendously
helps your or bring out the surround sound experience by considering this is an all-in-one audio system that works across the board.
Here there’s value there rather than buying two separate.
Headsets so I hope this video helped you in some way be sure to LIKE and
subscribe if you haven’t already visitSteelSeries.com for more information on these headsets again I’ll have my links down below.
I’m Jimmy with Jim’s review room and I’m here to help you make that purchasedecision you guys take care now see you on the next one bye.
2. HyperX Cloud Revolver S
The Hhyperx Cloud gaming headset features better surround sound than the Arctis Pro mentioned above, but it comes at the cost of an absence of DAC, a slightly more awkward microphone, and a cable that can be infuriatingly prone to getting caught on any number of objects around you.
Still, the HyperX Cloud Revolver S headset provides a huge amount of quality for their price.
Just as importantly, they’re insanely comfortable, which can actually be quite useful during those marathon gaming sessions we all put in at the launch of a new game.
Surely, I couldn’t get past the top three in a gaming headset list without including a Turtle Beach headset.
Turtle Beach headsets have been making insanely high-quality gaming headsets since their inception as a company, and that trend has only continued today.
Although you do pay a little more for the brand, what you get with Turtle Beach is consistency.
I’ve never bought a Turtle Beach headset and been disappointed, and the Elite Pro headset is just as great as any of their previous products.
Turtle Beach consistently provides some of the best esports gaming equipment the industry has to offer, and this headset is no different.
The Astro A50 Wireless headset features a mid-high range price, but with it you get utility.
This Astro Gaming A50 features Dolby surround sound, works with every type of gaming device, and most importantly, is the first wireless headset on this list.
Now to some, a wireless headset is sacrilege, and there’s no doubt that you do sacrifice a bit of sound quality.
But in exchange, you get the ability to move freely, game while listening to a podcast, get up, and still be listening to that same podcast while in another room as you make yourself food.
In short, although it won’t provide you with sound quality that will win you a tournament, if you just want something that’s great for both gaming and life in general, the A50 is a fantastic choice.
In my opinion, this Astro headset can be the best wireless gaming headset you can buy in 2018. You can pick up this headset here.
This headset is a feature of yet another notable brand in the gaming world, Beyerdynamic.
Although you definitely pay more for the brand, just as you would with a Turtle Beach headset, the Custom Game headset is an excellent piece of hardware.
Although the sound profile on this beauty is fantastic, what’s perhaps most impressive is just how comfortable this headset is to wear.
Once you put this on, it’s unlikely you’ll want to take it off, making the Custom Game a great headset for marathon gaming and listening sessions.
Let’s be honest, not everyone wants to spend over a hundred dollars on headphones just so they can play games.
For those of you who want high sound quality but don’t have the budget to spare for some of the other options on this list, the Corsair HS50 Stereo Gaming Headset might just be the headset for you.
It’s got great sound for the price, and the only annoyance is that the detachable mic can be a bit easy to lose.
It won’t blow you away, but it more than gets the job done, and at the end of the day that’s really what matters.
It is the best budget gaming headset among the list here.
And there you have it folks! My top 7 best gaming headset options for gamers, both pros and casuals alike.
From wired, top of the line production quality gear to, to the best wireless gaming headset on the market, to budget headsets, when it comes to esports gaming equipment this list has it all, so I hope you found it both informative and worthwhile of your time.
If you prefer RTS and FPS games such as War Frame, Heroes of Storm, Heavy Metals, Dirty Bomb, League of Legends, just to name a few then you know the importance of a gaming mouse.
Any mouse with the left and right click buttons as well as the wheel will do the job but that is not to mean that you should not go for a proper gaming mouse.
Similar for those third-party companies create alternative controllers for PlayStation or Xbox. A gaming mouse gives a competitive advantage and it makes games more convenient and comfortable to play.
With that said, there are hundreds if not thousands of gaming mice in the market today.
Some will deliver what they promise, but many fall short and it is a complete waste of time.
So what makes a good gaming mouse?
In this article, we will elaborate on the various types of gaming mouse. Be sure to stick to the end, as we will give our unbiased verdict on the best gaming mouse.
How to Choose a Gaming Mouse
Several factors that go into purchasing the best gaming mouse, and we have broken down them below for your pleasure.
The DPI
The resolution of a gaming mouse, measured in Dot per Inch (DPI), determines how accurate and fast the mouse can move the cursor to the position you want.
In most cases, the higher the DPI, the better the mouse, but it might not be applicable in all situations.
A stronger optical sensor will increase the resolution. However, recent developments have seen the pixel be split into four, but this could pose a problem later on.
That being said, the best gaming mice come with adjustable DPI allowing you to switch between fast and slow moving DPI with an ease that will fit any game.
So, look out for adjustable DPI when shopping for a gaming mouse.
Optical Vs. Laser Sensors
First of all, what makes a good mouse?
Most mice found in the market use optical sensors although we are seeing an emergence of laser sensor.
Nevertheless, there is no much difference really, since the laser sensors are just an optical sensor that uses a laser for illumination.
The laser, however, does illuminate more surface depth compared to the ordinary optical sensor mouse that uses LED light.
What this means is that the laser gaming mice will be the best for high-speed action while performing terribly at low speeds.
Therefore, before you make the purchase with this consideration, think about your gaming preferences.
Optical vs laser mouse, which one is best for you.
Customization and Ergonomics
Irrespective of your level of skills, you will be using your gaming mouse for a while.
It is, therefore, necessary that you consider the ergonomics of the mouse.
Ensure that it has a good grip and it is comfortable.
Some customizable mice allow you to change everything from lighting, an angle of the palm rest, as well as the feel of the buttons.
Weight
Gaming mice come in all shapes and sizes, and this brings about a variety of weight.
However, PC gamers are split on the ideal weight of a mouse.
When you are playing FPS or RTS games, you had better consider the weight of the mouse.
The weight determines how much control of the mouse you actually have.
A mouse that is roughly 100g will give better control since it is not too heavy or too light.
However, we are seeing top-tier mice coming with removable weight and this allows you to adjust the weight of your mouse for better control.
Programmable Buttons
Some of the top-tier gaming mice of today come with extra buttons that allow you to input macro commands.
Depending on the type of game you are playing, the buttons can be programmed to fit your preferences.
Gaming mouse with many buttons can let you have more customized and control for the action in the video game.
Wireless gaming mice are taking over the gaming world by storm.
However, due to the intensity of PC gaming, they might not offer the same utility as when you are using it for light office work.
Wired gaming mice, on the other hand, offer a more stable connection and respond better compared to the wireless ones. Besides this, the wired gaming mice are cheaper, but you will have to contend with the cord sometimes being in the way.
Types of Gaming Mouse
There are several types of mice on the market today and you had better consider your budget as well as gaming preferences before you choose one. Here are the 4 most popular types of gaming mice.
FPS Gaming Mouse
Most people confuse them with all propose mice, but the FPS mice are optimized for gamers that require first-person shooting, such as Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, Counter Strike, et al.
They come with a sniper button located beneath the thumb and it will slow down the DPI in order to line up your shots.
MMO Gaming Mouse
This type has the most buttons, and they are the perfect gaming mice for pulling off complex skill rotations, with precision.
Leave alone that, some brands give you the option of allocating alternate button maps with easy accessibility.
If you are planning to start playing World of Warcraft, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Avengers: Infinity War, then this is the gaming mice that you ought to pick up.
RTS Gaming Mouse
There are hardly any good enough RTS gaming mice in the market that can give you the best experience playing RTS games such as Warhammer, Warcraft II, StarCraft II, or Halo Wars II among others.
However, you will find a selection of RTS gaming mice that comes close to all-purpose gaming mice at a fraction of the cost.
If you are looking for the best rts mouse for this type of games, you can go for the all-purpose mouse that is light on the buttons.
Best Gaming Mouse
The best gaming mouse should be one that feels like it as an extension of your experienece; it should be smooth and comfortable to hold, the placement of the buttons should be just right and be extremely easy to maneuver over the mouse pad.
Unlike a regular mouse, a gaming mouse is customized to give you the best gaming experience; it is designed to fit the contours of your hand so that your hands don’t tire out during the endless gaming sessions and it has built-in sensors that track the hands’ movement.
There is no perfect gaming mouse out there because everyone’s definition of an ideal mouse is different.
In this upcoming section, we will be telling you guys about what we think is the best gaming mouse of 2018, the best gaming mouse under $50 and $30, best wireless gaming mouse under $50, best gaming mouse under $10, gaming mouse for small hands and the best fps gaming mouse.
Best gaming mouse 2018
Logitech launched the G903 which is their best wireless gaming mouse.
In terms of design, it is only slightly different from the older models.
It has a very uniform, sleek and modern looking design.
The fanciest feature this mouse has is the wireless charging feature which can be done through a wireless charging mouse pad that you can purchase.
Although the wireless charging mouse pad is a convenient luxury, it’s not for everyone especially considering the time it takes the charging pad to recharge the mouse; it takes anywhere between 12 to 14 hours according to an estimate by the company.
Regarding performance, the G903 completely blew us away.
This wireless mouse is just as good as (maybe even better) as a wired mouse.
A big reason for the excellent connectivity is the PMW3366 optical sensor which has a sensitivity of 12000 dots per inch.
The optical sensors on it work well.
Our verdict is that the G903 is the best gaming mouse of 2018 and arguably flawless.
For those who are strict budget, spending hundreds of dollars on high-end gaming mice is a luxury they cannot afford.
But don’t worry, because we have got the perfect gaming mouse for you and the best part is it costs less than $50.
The Razer Deathadder Elite is an all-rounder and fantastic gaming mouse.
The Razer Deathadder Elite’s design is pretty cool and ergonomically perfect; that’s why even after much iteration the Razer has not altered Deathadder’s design.
This gaming mouse boasts 16000 dots per inch (DPI) sensor.
The sensor Razer used in this gaming mouse is based on the PMW3366 sensor used in the Logitech G903 gaming mouse.
Performance wise the Deathadder Elite is excellent and has been working well with real-time strategy-based games such as Overwatch and League of Legends.
Our verdict is that the Deathadder Elite is a great gaming mouse, especially regarding price.
The only downside is the two new buttons the company decided to build in with the upgraded model.
If you want more bang for your buck then we have got the perfect gaming mouse for you, it’s wireless, and best of all it costs less than $50.
The Logitech G602 gaming mouse is a formidable gaming mouse.
Logitech G602 gained popularity because of its design, more specifically due to the ergonomics of it.
It fits perfectly into the palm of your hand and does not cause any fatigue whatsoever.
The fantastic gaming mouse has a total of 11 buttons; they are the right and left click buttons, DPI toggles which move up and down, a performance mode switching button, six side buttons which are reprogrammable and lastly the scroll wheel in the center.
The placement of buttons is well thought out, and each one of the digits rests comfortably on or close to a button ready to press when needed without having to move too far.
Regarding performance, it has its strengths and weaknesses.
We found it to be well suited to games such as DOTA, DOTA 2 and League of Legends because of the presence of so many easily reprogrammable buttons.
But the downside is that it didn’t work that well in first person shooter games mostly due to the low sensitivity of the sensor.
Our verdict is that it is a great gaming mouse considering the price.
If you want to go for something a little less pricey than $50, we have got a great gaming mouse option that costs less than $30.
The SteelSeries Rival 100 is a great under $30 budget option.
It is a fairly small and compact and small gaming mouse.
It is only 4.75 inches tall. T has a straightforward design so much so that at first glance you might mistake it for an ordinary mouse.
It easily fits the palm of your hand and your fingers can comfortably rest on the sides of the mouse.
Regarding performance, the SteelSeries Rival 100 left us surprised.
It has an SDNS-3059-SS optical sensor and boy did it surpass expectations.
Although the capability of the sensor is capped at 2000, you can take it all the way up to 4000 with the help of the CPI which is simulated digitally by the SteelSeries Engine.
If you are someone who struggles to grip a regular sized gaming mouse well, then you are in luck because we have a gaming mouse option for you that’s perfect for small hands.
Our pick is the Corsair Harpoon gaming mouse.
It is a budget gaming mouse that costs $29.99. It is a relatively smaller gaming mouse compared to the average size of gaming mice.
It is one of the lightest gaming mice and weighs only 85 grams.
Regarding performance, it works well.
Its sensor sadly does not surpass the 6000 DPI limit, but realistically speaking anything above 5000 is excellent for most people.
It works well with games such as Battlefield 1, Civilization and Fortnight.
The BenQ Zowie EC2-A is our pick as the best fps gaming mouse.
With this mouse, the focus is entirely on the performance aspect.
This gaming mouse comes equipped with a Pixart 3310 sensor which is among the very best sensors on the market, and it promises nothing but perfection.
There are many options to choose from when it comes to best fps gaming mouse, but the difference between those and this one is that it has fantastic performance and none of that show off the element.
Overall, there are plenty of gaming mice to choose from, but it all comes down to your gaming preferences and budget on hand.
While you cannot test how a gaming mouse feels when shopping online, opt for sellers that allow you to return the mouse if it does not meet your requirements.
A durable gaming mouse will not come cheap, especially the customizable mice.
The process will be tedious since you will be looking for that one which meets your long-term needs.
With all that you have to consider, the best gaming mouse is the one that fits into your palm and heavy enough to give you the comfort you need.

Like any other hobbies, playing video games also have their advantages and disadvantages.
But it can be just the matter of the perspective of the society and your discipline.
Before I dive into talking about the pros and cons of playing video games, I assume you already know the “Video game” is, unless you just recently come out from the cave.
Just in case, if you still not quite understand the term “Video Game”, here got a great explanation from Mr. Wikipedia.
Video game in short descript:
” an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device such as a TV screen or computer monitor.” – WIKIPEDIA
The reason of video game can become the ninth form of art it because it’s existing is become the big moving gear and move even further in the entertainment industry.
*the nine form of art: architecture(first), sculpture(second), painting(third), dance(fourth), music(fifth), poetry(sixth), cinema(seventh), television(eighth), Video game(ninth)
Because of the video game, it makes a lot of exciting things happen.
Until now it can become a topic for sport( e-sport) or a career, back in the 80’s, 90’s and even 00’s people still not expect to play the video game can pay your bill.
So with great power comes great responsibility, video game become a hot topic for people to discuss the influence on the society.
Of course, some people think video games are terrible for health, but some disagree.
They are not all wrong, or all correct, they got their own opinion.
So I am here to break down what are the advantage and disadvantage of playing the video game.
What are the cons and pros
I am a gamer myself, but I admit that the video game is not a perfect thing.
Like other hobbies or activities, if you cannot control the relationship between the video game and you, it going to make no good for your life and career(or your education).
So let’s be fair, below where I am going to talk about the good, the bad and the tips for video gaming.
The disadvantage of playing video game
1. Addiction
Can’t deny, with great technology come great video game idea and gameplay, and even the storytelling of a video game can compete with the Oscar winner film standard.
With such intend entertainment, it brings out the exciting experience to you from your boring life.
That way it can be addictive for you.
When becoming addicted, it going to affect your other life and activities.
It could be a serious issue.
2. Negative effects for you and the social
Violate could be the primary reason many people want to ban it or restrict it.
The difference for the violate from the movies or any other films, in the video game you are participating with it, so sometimes ( not always) it has more impact or influence on your emotion.
Ok, I know some of you might think “if GTA makes you violate, then why Sim city didn’t make you a City planner?” vice versa.
Don’t worry; I am on your side.
Yes, video game somehow affects you but it also comes with a lot of factors to make you violate, cannot put all blame on the video game.
3. Attention problem
Compare to real life; the video game has more potential to create your fantasy, in the video game, you are a hero who tries to save the world.
With the immerse experience, you will feel numbness when dealing with your life(I mean the real life).
And that why you got the attention problem.
The issue not only happens to children it also occurs in the adult.
The advantage of playing video game
Enough for the disadvantages of playing video game, now is on the good side.
1. Release Stress
Playing video game can reduce your stress.
“In a 2014 study at University College in London, researchers surveyed 491 subjects and found a correlation between the total number of hours spent playing games (primarily first-person shooters and action games) per week, and overall recovery from work-related stress that day.”
You can read the whole article here.
It can be fun if you enjoy, if you enjoy, then you have a good time at that moment then it useful for your emotion.
Overall it all about the relax, put away any real work and stand inside the virtual world and have fun.
2. Improves attention and concentration
It kind of a contradiction with the point that I talk about in the disadvantages of playing video game section.
But it very depends, some game machinic are build to let the player focus on the mission, pay attention to the quest from the video game.
For example, when you play counter strike the classic FPS game, you need to stay alert when competing with other player or else you are going to lose.
It just like playing football, video game, in this case is nothing different.
3. Improves problem-solving skills
Mostly video game is built to be the challenging or solving problem; you need to think about how to finish the quest or task and go to the next level.
In this process, it trains your brain to be more good at solving the puzzle, and it is a handy skill in the society.
Things to remember when playing video game (The Tips)
Ok, from above I already state about both disadvantage and advantage of play video game.
Knowing the pros and cons of playing video game are not enough.
I am here to make sure you can also learn how to improve your video game quality life.
1. Control Play Time
Do not let yourself stick on the monitor for too long, It also not good for your eyes, take a rest after a while, do some exercise, go outside and breath some fresh air.
I know this is very obvious tips(who don’t know, duh!), but here comes the problem, if our willpower not strong enough, it going to make us lose track of time in playing video game.
So the easiest solution to avoid overtime playing games is set a timer.
You can use your smartphone or alarm clock to set the time.
For me, I usually set my time limit in one to two hours, that enough fun time for me to play games in a day.
2. Play together
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”, I do not know who quoted this, but this quote applies in video gaming as well.
Sometimes play video gaming alone feel isolate, why don’t invite friends or family to play together.
There got a lot of games that are suitable for playing together.
Pick a game, invite your friends to prepare some snack and soda, turn on your PlayStation and call it a day.
3. Know your Interest
Nobody is more understand you than yourself
You know what type of game are you interested.
Even thought Darksoul is famous, but you will suffer from playing it if you are not those challenger people.
So take time to search and ask yourself what game you prefer to.
———-
If you want to learn more to balance your video game and life, you can check it out this article.
Playing video game, what are your opinions.
There still a lot more tips for you when I don’t want to be very overwhelming, so I pause here.
In the end, the video games not a bad thing at all, it can be the excellent medium to relax, but it can also be harmful to your health and even life if you are addicted to it.
Some people can play the video game all day and get things done.
In my opinion, as a gamer who play games since young, you become lazy cannot entirely blame on the video gaming.
There got a lot of factors to affect your productivity.
But people often think it is the video game make their kid become lazy and do not want to do their homework or something.
Yes, they are not wrong at all, but there some misconception or misunderstanding between the laziness and video game.
The Attraction of Video Game
To make more sale, video game creators and publisher are going to figure it out how to make the game more attractive.
The gameplay, the game story the graphic are more attractive than real life, so that way when the player stops the game, and back to real life and feel demotivated.
When you demotivated, you feel like do not want to do anything, which makes you look like a lazy person.
But as I said, some people can play the video game in a lot of time but still manage to get their life together, get things that are supposed to be done.
It sometimes all about your willpower.
Escape The Reality
Let change the perspective; some people are not lazy because of the video game, they are lazy so that they play the video game to escape the reality.
When you don’t like to do you work, you will find a way to kill time; video game can be the excellent option.
In a nutshell,
If you fundamental a lazy person, anything can make you lazy not the only video game.
Playing a video game cannot directly make you lazy, in fact, it helps you train your brain.
But keep in mind, like any other activities, too addictive to video game also not good for your health. You need to balance your life and video game.
As you can see, Xim Apex has more option for the response (latency) modes, 1, 2, 4, or 8ms.

No matter from the classic FPS games like Doom, CS: GO, or PUBG, the shooting games mechanics or the control are not much difference, but one problem, you kind of suck at playing the shooting games.
Shooting game, or usually what we call first person shooter or third person shooting.
So you are here because you want some tip to improve your shooting skill.
Good news I am a fan of FPS game, and after a decade of the gameplay experience, I gather a set of tips that can improve your shooting skill and make the experience more fun.
The tips that I have for you not only apply to PC gamers, it also for the console player like PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
1.Stop Panic
The first step to being good at shooting games, stop panic.
Yes, seriously, stop the panic, this is the first things you need to overcome.
So often when the enemy or other player jump out all of a sudden in front our view, and we get to freak out, then we didn’t shoot accurately.
Then the next thing is you respawn back to your base; it sucks right.
Be steady, pay attention to every detail, even the sound of your enemy movement, do not fear.
Remember, it just a game, you are not going to die if you lose.
So enjoy.
2.Use The Right Equipment
Not necessary a super high tech gaming focus mouse like Razer, but a mouse that you comfortable to hold, anywhere around 1000 DPI will do the trick.
For your information, if you don’t know what DPI, DPI means dots per inch, it affects your mouse sensitivity, some experience gamer is very careful to the quantity of dpi of the mouse they use.
It not only for mouse, but other things like keyboard and monitor can also help you improve your shooting experience.
Same goes with console player especially PS4 player, if you not comfortable with the original controller you have, you can check it out my other article alternative controller for the PlayStation 4.
3.Sit Properly
This applies to everyday life, not only when gaming, sit in the wrong position can hurt your back.
And that way the gaming chair exists.
4.Mouse sensitivity
Many games have the option of adjusting your mouse sensitivity because different people have the distinct sense of mouse speed.
So make sure config your mouse sensitivity to suit your need before starting the game.
5.Practice
practice makes perfect.
If you didn’t practice hard enough, even the world best kung fu master teaching you kung fu, you won’t be able to be a kung fu elite.
Same goes for playing a game, to become good at shooting games you need to put more time and effect to play.
So these are the tips I gave to you to make you good at the shooting game.
Hope you learn something and get better at playing shooting games.

Enjoy your video game and happy hunting.
Here are the other tips for improving your shooting game skill
Love video games? Me too, but we still have our job, study, and life.
Some of the video games are addictive, not only for the children but also for the adult could keep playing video games until forgot to eat, sleep and even work.
But as a responsible adult, we still need to play our bill, loan, and other expenses.
Even though you are a student, you need time to study.
So do you need to give up your gamer life?
Abandon your video game hobby can be very difficult for you, but the good news is, there got several ways to balance your video game and your real life.
You can keep playing your video games without affecting your career, study or other activities.
I also a gamer myself, I like playing video games, but in reality, I got a job to do, have a career to build.
I cannot put much time to play my games nowadays.
In fact, I already have several months didn’t touch my PS4 because I have few projects need to rush.
But first, let me show you two video to learn how other people manage the problem.
Here I break down a video created by Thomas Frank, it talking about How to Balance Video Games and Studying.
It comes in handy if you are a study and have no time to play your favorite video games.
As you can probably tell from his backdrop and his entire room, He is also a fan of playing video games.
Just like you and me.
But he also has a complicated relationship with the video games.
He illustrates it on something he calls the “Work/Play” Compulsion Scale.”
Mean that he priorities wanted to find the balances between video games and life.
“As you can see here, it looks like a teeter-totter.
And if I had my priorities in order and acted in the way that I wanted to act on a daily basis.
Then I would work for a certain amount of hours and then play video games for a certain amount of hours.
And I would be nicely placed in the middle. “
In the video, he provided five tips to help you balance between playing video game and study.
Tip 1. Set up an environment for studying that only for studying
There a study was done at the University of Hawaii.
Where researchers wanted to figure out if they could improve students grades by changing their environments.
They did one thing.
They told students to turn their desks around in their dorms toward
one wall and put a sticky note labeled “Study Area” on the lap next to their desk.
The students were instructed to only use this desk for studying and everything else, other activities had to take place somewhere else.
“What do you think happened? In comparison to the control group of students who didn’t do this, the students who did do it had an average of 1.0 GPA increase. ” Frank said.
From that research, we know that destruction is one of the significant factors affecting your productivities.
If you want to balance it out of your gaming life, separate your workspace and entertainment place.
Tip 2. Increase the friction involved in getting into a video game
“The idea here is to increase the difficulty and the number of steps involved in getting into a distracting activity and basically make doing your work the more attractive option in that case.
One way that you can do this is by actually creating a different account on your computer for work and only installing the programs you need for work on that computer.”
Don’t let yourself easy to access the gaming system, I am talking about Steam account, PS4 or Xbox should be somewhere else, just keep a distance from your workstation.
Frank also introduce us some programs like Stay Focused and Focal Filter to reduce the amount of distraction you.
Tip 3. Simply game after you’re done working for the day
“Use gaming as a reward and this kind of goes back to the concept of high-density fun that I talked about in last week’s video.
Use the anticipation of a long gaming session later on in the day
as a motivator to get your work done more efficiently now.”
Yap, prioritize what important first.
After done all the task you suppose to do, then just go enjoy playing your video games.
This method can avoid any delay for the things you need to do.
Tip 4. Play games that work well with your schedule
“If you’re very busy, and you have a lot of studying to do, then it might not be the best idea to get invested in a 120-hour JRPG or a super long WoW raid.
On the other hand, playing a few sessions of Smash Brothers with your friends is probably not going to suck up a whole ton of your time. Just be mindful of the real world commitments you have and select your game accordingly. “
Chose those games that are not going to use up too many of your time.
Tip 5. Turn your life into a game
“You can actually reduce the compulsion to play lots of video games if your life feels like a game itself.
The best way to do this is to set goals that are specific and that you’re actually stoked to achieve. “
Make yourself a list, just like the game character has its own quests.
Write down what things you are going to do, do the task, then mark a check beside it.
Just like you finish a quest in the video games.
You can also use tools like Fitocracy or HabitRPG to track your habits and gain real stats and genuinely kind of play a real game while improving your life at the same time.
If you find that your own gaming habits are still really hard to break through, there are actually some online communities that can help you
Frank state over on Reddit, there’s one called r/stop gaming and r/wow.
There’s also a site called quitlol.com, which is precisely for people who play League of Legends.
These are the tips provide from Frank.
Now let’s move on to another video which created by Road Delta, it also talking about the Balance between video games and studying.
He has similar approach method but yet still different tactic to practice
“Video gaming can be a source of a lot of fun but can also be a source of frustration and procrastination as we get older.
Video game time is replaced by studying and working and playing games becomes more like a distraction.”
But he believes there’s a way to keep gaming and still be productive that can make you appreciate gaming even more and it.
“Starts by embracing that Gaming is a waste of time what did you so if we consider all activities that do not produce any results a waste of time all entertainment including video games fall into that category.
As we strive to achieve more with our time, we might attempt to eliminate all distractions like uninstalling all games deleting steam and banning gaming from existence.”
But, it not a final solution, after a little bit of then need for distraction kicks in, and you will start playing a game no matter what.
So his point is you are not necessary to cut off your playing games to have a healthy routine.
“My point is that entertainment is a part of a healthy routine and gaming must be earned to feel enjoyable and guilt-free.”
In the video, he uses one of the methods from a self-development book called “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.”
The Author Stephen Covey divides activities into a matrix with four different quadrants.
The Activities can be either:
important or not important; urgent and non-urgent.
Self-development activities like reading and just exercising, in general, will go to a quadrant – because it’s something that it’s important and not urgent
On the other hand, excessive video gaming goes to quadrant 4 which is not important and not urgent.
“Now turning gaming into rewards, it moves it from quadrant 4 to quadrant 2 since we are exercising restraint and discipline.
So now let’s look at the methods to make this shift possible.
Before you start. Gaming is important to define for how long you want to gain.”
In the Parkinson’s law, it basically says that the time it takes to complete a task will expand to fit the available time
Meaning that if you don’t have any predefined time to game you will gain for longer than you should.
So if you want o play a game, received it to few hour, sometimes too much of something can spoil its taste.
Road Delta received himself to one to two hours maximum at a time.
The primary goal here is finding the balance between enjoying the game and not feeling guilty.
During the week this approach.
It will make you enjoy the gaming more because there is a sense of urgency you earn your video game time.
In the other tip, he has two ways to create that mechanism to stop from you when you are supposed to stop play game at the moment.
One is Alarm clock or Timer, another one is accountability.
you can choose to use your phone timer or a kitchen alarm.
“It has more of an impact when it goes off place it next to you or for maximum effect place it somewhere where you must leave your gaming area to turn it off.”
The other one is accountability
Having someone who reminds you that when you are playing too much.
But here is the catch, don’t rely on your gamer friend when you are in a multiplayer game or online game.
“And here is where productivity tools come in handy most used is definitely the Pomodoro Technique where you work for 25 minutes and then rest for five and repeats until you are on the road .”
He suggests use productivity apps like Habitica make you more productivity.
Habitica is a free habit-building and productivity app that treats your real life as a game.
With in-game rewards and punishments to motivate you and an active social network to inspire you, Habitica can help you achieve your goals to become healthy, hard-working, and happy.
These are the solid tips given by Frank and Road Delta.
So now here are my tips for helping you play video games without affecting your quality life.
1. Avoid Time-Consuming Games
Choose what video game should you play is one of the critical factors for affecting your lifestyle balance.
I normally choose Video games with story/campaign.
Online multiplayer game or MMORPG are going to be an endless journey, so I tend to avoid these type of games.
Until now I still haven’t tried to play World of Warcraft.
I am that kind of gamer which is attached to storytelling. I will put story as my first priority for choosing which game I should buy.
Here the thing, what is the ideal gameplay length for a campaign mode?
This is very objective, but in my opinion, 25 to 80 hours of gameplay length is my ideal length, it short enough to keep thing interesting, long enough to cover the topic.
You can go to gamelengths.com to check the average gameplay time.
Another reason to chose video games to have campaign mode is it has an ending.
So when you finish a game, it is time to stop playing for a while and get back to reality.
Here is my list of games I played which is worth your time.
1. Last of us (PS4)
2. GTA V
3. Singularity
4. Wolfenstein: The New Order
5. Metro 2033 and Metro Last light (I recommended the Redux version)
I know there got a lot of great games out there can compete with the list, but these are my pick which is good for you when you are in busy time but want to enjoy playing games.
2. Skip The Extra Stuff, mission or quest
Yap, don’t play tennis in you GTA V, let go for some heist.
Some mission in the game can be skipped, you only focus on the primary objective.
Developer tends to create a lot of side quest just to make the game have more feature or gameplay time.
3. Play On Easy Difficulty
Don’t make it hard, set your game in easy mode if it was available, by this way you not only can finish the game in short time but also less frustration.
4. Manage Your play time
This is already a noticeable tip, but the problem is how do you do.
First is schedule you play time, bring out sticky or your computer calendar, write down when you are going to play your video games and how long.
Post it on the wall that you can see all the time, or set an alarm clock on your calendar.
It subconsciously making playing the video game is part of your scheduled task among other activities, so you have more organize toward fun time and working time.
Setting how long you play also make you know when it was going to stop and move on to other activities.
5. Set Timer
If you feel uncomfortable with setting a schedule for yourself, you can use another method like set a timer before you play a game.
Like me, I often use my mobile phone to set a timer with 2 hours long before I click the DualShock start button.
So I do not worry if I very into the game world, the alarm will alert me when the time comes.
6. Only play on weekends
Remember when I was younger, my parent set a rule, we only can play the video game on weekends or holiday, the other day computer just uses for homework or research.
When older or grow up, of cause nobody can tell you how to do with your life.
But the “Only play on weekends” rule can be helpful sometimes if you are an addictive gamer.
Why?
Because there only 2 days of weekends in a week, so you can focus on important things on the other 5 weekdays.
And I am sure while on holiday, we are going to spend a lot of time on the bed.
this is the win-win situation, you get your life balance and get more things done during the weekdays.
7. Deep work, Deep Play
I read a book called “Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World” by Cal Newport.
It is about the importance of keep focus on the important task when we now live in the distracted world.
When you were working on something, and to get the best result in your work, you need to eliminate all of the things that distract you, for example checking email, social media, notification and so on.
Same goes for playing a game, you want to use your time wisely to get the best gaming experience.
8. Create Punishment system
Create a punishment system for yourself.
Sometimes people need to be punished so that they can remember the pain.
Her how it works.
limit yourself only can play games at the particular hour per day, like giving yourself a quota limit.
Once you break the rule, you need be punished, either pay money into your “Punishment Jay.”
For example, I set myself only can play video games for three hours per day, if I play overtime, I need to donate a hundred buck to the “Punishment Jay.”
9. Just watch other people stream
Yap, kind of the weird method of “enjoy” your game.
But sometimes it has its advantages.
You don’t have to invest in the gaming system or computer hardware.
Just go to twitch.tv or youtube.com to watch your favorite steamer play the games you prefer.
It kind of like you like football, but instead, you pay to watch other playing.
10. Invite your friend or family to play with you
Share the joy with your family and friend.
First, you both can enjoy the fun, and secondly, you can keep reminding each other when its time for going to stop playing.
Although I was already given a lot of tips for you to balance your gaming life and real life, I know not all of them are suitable for you.
So chose the best method for yourself.
If you have any other tip, you can share it down on the comment below.
